CUMBERLAND - It seems a few days was all the Allegany Campers needed.
After rain suspended their meeting with Bishop Walsh with the Campers down 4-0, Allegany scored four times in its first at-bat on Tuesday to tie and eventually pull ahead of the Spartans. The Campers would then go on to win 9-5 and secure the City championship from the defending champs at Allegany High School.
The Spartans scored three times in the first inning with the help of doubles from Chandler Tomlinson and Payne Turner. They then scored in the top of the third to take a 4-0 lead before the rain hit.
After making one out in the home half of the third the Campers got five hits, interrupted only by a walk. Brennan Connelley, Cody Jefferys, Sean Collette, Cody Ellsworth and John Carpenter all got in on the fun as the score became tied.
Each team traded a run in the fifth before Allegany scored four more times in the sixth, all with two outs.
Jefferys would finish with a triple and a single, while Collette Ellsworth and Carpenter all would hit three singles.
Ellsworth struck out 10 and walked none in the win.
Zac Hare singled in the Spartans' fourth run in the third, and Tomlinson finished with two hits.
It's the second win over the Spartans for the Campers, who beat BW 4-0 on April 23. Allegany has beaten Fort Hill once so far the season, 9-6, on April 18.
It is the first outright City title for the Campers since 2004.
The Campers (9-6) will play the Sentinels at Legion Field today at 4 p.m. Bishop Walsh (9-12, 2-2 City) will host Southern today at 4:45.
