SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Chandler Tomlinson homered in consecutive innings to get KMK Insurance/Personal Best an early lead in an 8-3 victory over Fort Ashby in Rec League baseball Friday evening at Frankfort.
Tomlinson connected for a two-run home run in a six-run first inning and added a solo shot in the second as KMK built a 7-0 lead.
Derek Barb hit two doubles and a single to drive in one run, and Drew O’Neal chipped in with two singles.
Kevin Hupe pitched all seven innings, scattered seven singles, walked three and struck out eight for the win.
Ethan Landis, Zach Bradfield and Colton Jones had RBI singles for Fort Ashby.
KMK/Personal Best (3-4) will play Chessie at the Frostburg Armory on Monday.
Hite Roofing 5, WEPCO 4
POTOMAC PARK — John Taylor singled home Tre Smith in the bottom of the eighth to lift Hite Roofing over previously unbeaten WEPCO Federal Credit Union at Hamilton Field.
Smith came to bat as a pinch hitter in the eighth and singled on an 0-2 count. Shane Malloy followed with a bunt single and Cody Jeffreys singled to load the bases. Taylor then delivered a shot to the outfield gap that easily plated the runner from third.
Malloy and Jeffreys finished with two singles and Jeffreys had two RBIs.
Scott Rice, who pitched into the fifth, and reliever Taylor combined for 12 strikeouts.
Adam Stowell and Justin Shaw had two singles for WEPCO (8-1).
On Monday, Hite Roofing (4-3-1) plays Casselman Valley and WEPCO faces Fort Ashby VFW at Westernport.
