Corey Carr hit his fourth home run in as many games to help Garrett collect two wins from Potomac Valley Thursday and finish the American Legion regular season with a 22-5-1 mark.
A four-run fourth inning helped Garrett rally for a 7-5 win in the first game, and Tyler Stevens tossed a shutout in a 3-0 win in game two.
Carr went deep with two outs and no one on the bottom of the first to give Garrett a 1-0 lead. It was his only hit of the game, but meant that he had homered in all four games since Monday.
Reese Duncan hit a double and an RBI single for Garrett, and Jason Ashby had an RBI double. Dan Warnick and Jake Briley each had an RBI single.
For Potomac Valley, Alexor Moore hit a double and a single. Dane Biller, Tucker Smith and Tanner Burns all hit an RBI single. Cody Moreland added a two-run single.
The second game saw Stevens allow only two hits and one walk in the shutout. Jacob Bowman and Josh Stickley combined to allow only three hits in the loss, but had some slight control problems in the fourth.
Garrett scored all three of its runs in the fourth without getting a hit, using five walks and a hit batter to do the damage.
Potomac’s Moreland doubled for the only extra-base hit.
Garrett will have to win a play-in game on Tuesday at Frostburg State University to qualify for the Maryland State Tournament. The opponent has yet to be determined.
