Frankfort beats Petersburg 3-1

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Marc Phillips scored two goals as Frankfort evened its early season record by beating visiting Petersburg.

Phillips scored first with 38:41 remaining in the opening half on an assist by Tom Hughes.

The Vikings got their only goal when Brandon Kivett tied the score on an unassisted goal with under 10 minutes left in the first half.

Phillips gave the Falcons (2-2) the lead once more on a feed from Cory Brown with 25:30 to go in the second half. Josh Howser got the final goal on a pass from Brown at 5:53.

The Falcons led in shots 15-6. Andy Hughes made four saves in goal for Frankfort and Matthew Alt had seven for Petersburg.

Frankfort will play at Calvary on Saturday, Sept. 6. Petersburg (0-3) visits Pendleton County on Tuesday.
