Preston powers past Hampshire

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — The running game was too much for Hampshire in its season opener, as Preston ran for 329 yards all scored all of it points in the first half in a 29-6 win Friday evening.

Tyler Milton scored on three occasions, and finished with 173 yards on 26 carries. He scored the first time on a eight-yard run, and then added two one-yard plunges later in the half.

Quarterback Brandon Booker scored a touchdown from 50 yards out, and totaled 116 yards on the ground.

Hampshire ran for 130 yards as a team, and was led by Blake Saville with 68 yards on nine attempts. Robbie Skinner added 49 yards on 16 carries.

Each team lost three fumbles, with the Trojans coughing the ball up a total of six times, and Preston five.

Skinner scored the Hampshire touchdown with a four-yard run in the third quarter.

Preston’s ground game churned out 16 first downs, enabling the team to eat up most of the second half clock.

Hampshire will host to Berkeley Springs Friday at 7 p.m.
