Bishop Walsh wins over Petersburg 2-1

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Matt Kelley scored both of Bishop Walsh’s goals Friday as the Spartans edged Petersburg.
Both of Kelley’s goals were unassisted, with the first coming with four minutes remaining in the first half. His second goal was at the 34:08 mark of the second half, and proved to be the deciding score.
The Vikings got a goal off of a penalty kick with 21:04 left off the foot of Ben Keplinger.
The Spartans held a 16-8 advantage in shots taken, and took three corner kicks to Petersburg’s one.
Aaron O’Rourke made three saves, and Brandon Kimble added two as BW goalies. Matt Alt made eight saves for the Vikings.
Bishop Walsh improves to 3-1, and will play today at St. Maria Goretti. The junior varsity game begins at 1:30, and the varsity begins at 3 p.m. Petersburg will play Wednesday at Keyser.
