Mountain Ridge Edges Bishop Walsh 6-0

LONACONING — Jason Wright scored a fourth-quarter touchdown in a defensive struggle as the Mountain Ridge freshmen edged the Bishop Walsh jayvees at Westmar.
Wright, who finished with 82 yards rushing, scored on a one-yard plunge to snap a 0-0 game. Daniel Strietbeck and Jared Harper intercepted passes in leading the Miners defense to the shutout.
Sean Rowan, Greg Hendershot, Ryan Snyder, Jason Hartman and Forrest Lindeloff were cited by BW for strong defensive games. Lindeloff, Hendershot and Hartman led the offense.
The game was the season opener for both teams. BW plays again Sept. 22, at 5:30, at Hancock.
