JV: Mountain Ridge takes Hampshire

ROMNEY, W.Va. - Russell Knieriem scored three touchdowns and the Mountain Ridge defense created seven turnovers in a 27-20 victory at Hampshire in junior varsity football on Monday night.

Keinan Harper flustered the Hampshire passing game by intercepting four passes, and returned one 45 yards for a touchdown. The other three turnovers were fumble recoveries from Chris Sowers.

Knieriem had scoring runs of 12, four and 14 yards. Brett Fike, Danny Myers, Garrett Nash and Jake Roberts stood out on offense for the Miners. Delaney Steckman, David Cowan and Zack Wilson were defensive standouts.

No information was available on Hampshire.

Mountain Ridge will play Berkeley Springs at 7 p.m. on Monday at Westmar Middle School.
