M&T Bank soccer classic Nov. 18
FROSTBURG — The seventh annual M&T Bank Senior All-Star Soccer Classic will be held Sunday, Nov. 18 at Frostburg State University.
The girls game will begin at 1 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m.
The annual all-star games feature senior players from Allegany, Garrett, Mineral, Hampshire and Grant counties as well as the neighboring Pennsylvania area schools.
Coaches are asked to select players and send their picks to Steve Amann at sdalamann@msn.com, or by phone at (301) 359-0042. Teams are allowed three picks (the top two area teams recieve four).The girls game has been light on numbers in past years so coaches should contact Amann as soon as possible.
Homecoming tickets to go on sale
CUMBERLAND — Homecoming tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Allegany High School. Tickets are $6 each.
Nonnenmann/Sunday School League schedules organizational meeting
CUMBERLAND — The Earl Nonnenmann/YMCA Sunday School League, which will celebrate its 80th season this year, will hold an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., at the Baltimore Avenue YMCA gymnasium.
Election of officers and reading of the bylaws will take place at the meeting. Any church interested in entering a team for the upcoming season should send a representative to the meeting.

Pen-Mar League meeting today
BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. —The Pen-Mar Baseball League will meet today, at 1 p.m., at Sandy’s Restaurant in Bruceton Mills.
All officers, committee members and managers (or a team representative) are required to attend. There will also be a meeting in November.

Greenway fundraiser under way
CUMBERLAND — A Greenway Avenue Stadium fundraiser, to help pay for renovations to the 71-year-old Greenway Avenue Stadium, is currently being held at Allegany and Fort Hill high schools, with tickets also available at various locations in Cumberland.
The drawing for $10,000 in cash prizes as well as one grand prize of a new vehicle or $25,000 in cash, will be held during halftime of the Allegany-Fort Hill Homecoming football game Saturday, Nov. 10 at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
Ten ticket holders will receive cash prizes of $500 each, one ticket holder will receive $1,000, one ticket holder will receive $1,500, one ticket holder will receive $2,500, and one ticket holder will receive the grand prize.
The grand prize will be the winning ticket holder’s choice of a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible, a 2008 Dodge Avenger, a 2008 Jeep Liberty, or $25,000 in cash. The vehicles are courtesy of Jenkins Chrysler.
Tickets are $50 apiece, and winning ticket holders need not be present at the drawing to win.

Grasshoppers to play in Winchester
CUMBERLAND — The Western Maryland Grasshoppers will play Rock Harbor Golf Course in Winchester, Va., on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Tee times will start at 11 a.m. Players will leave Cumberland Chick-fil-A at 8:45 a.m., and must call Frank Shepherd at (304) 738-1559 no later than Sunday night to sign up.
Fort Hill F Club to meet Wednesday
CUMBERLAND — The F Club will meet Wednesday, at 6:30 p.m., in room 120 of Fort Hill High School.
All members helping with the Cash Bash must attend and bring all outstanding tickets. Tickets will still be available for purchase this week in the main office of the high school.
