Allegany-Smithsburg game directions
CUMBERLAND — The following MapQuest directions to Smithsburg for tonight’s Allegany-Smithsburg playoff football game have been provided by Allegany High School.
From I-68 E/US-40 E, take the I-70 E/US-40 E/US-522 S exit, Exit 82AB, toward Hagerstown/Hancock/Winchester. Go 0.1 miles.
Merge onto I-70 E via Exit 82B on the left toward Hagerstown. Go 33.3 miles.
Take the MD-66 exit, Exit 35, toward Smithsburg/Boonsboro. Go 0.2 miles.
Turn left onto MD-66 N/Mapleville Rd. Pass through one roundabout. Go 5.1 miles.
Turn right onto MD-64/Smithsburg Pike/Jefferson Blvd. Go 1.1 miles.
Turn left onto S. Main St./MD-77. Continue to follow S. Main St. Go 0.7 miles.
End at 66 N. Main St., Smithsburg.
Lady Bobcats lose in ECAC tourney
UNION, N.J. — Brittany Gibbs scored a second-half goal after Kean had squandered a 2-0 halftime lead to lift the Cougars to a 3-2 win over Frostburg State in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Tournament on Wednesday.
Gibbs’ tie-breaking goal came in the 64th minute for the Cougars (15-5), after the Bobcats (15-7) had scored twice in the first seven minutes of the half.
Breanne Russell and Brooke Tapman scored second-half goals to tie it for Frostburg State.
FSU led in shots 8-7, and was aided by a pair of defensive saves. Sami Topolski cleared a ball off the backline in the first half, and Liesa Bohannon stopped a shot in the 46th minute to keep the score at 2-2.
Frostburg State’s 15 victories tied the school record for most wins in a season.
M&T Bank All-Star Classic Sunday
FROSTBURG — The eighth annual M&T Bank Senior All-Star Soccer Classic will be played on Sunday at Frostburg State University.
The girl’s game is slated for 4 p.m., and the boy’s game will be at 6. The games feature seniors from Maryland, West Virginia, and nearby Pennsylvania high schools.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Players are requested to be at their game 30 minutes prior to start to register and warm up. All coaches are invited to attend and assist on the sidelines. For more information, contact Steve Amann at 301-359-0042.
Fearer League deadline Nov. 29
FROSTBURG — The Junior and Senior High Divisions of the Fearer Memorial Church Basketball League team registrations are due by Nov. 29.
All churches planning to enter a team need to contact league president Randy Sterne at (301) 729-6416 or (301) 729-1934 as soon as possible to reserve a spot in the league. Any player that attends a church that does not participate but would play should also contact Sterne. A limited numbers of teams will be accepted.
