Mtn. Ridge Mat Club to hold sign-up

FROSTBURG — The Mountain Ridge Mat Club will be holding registration for the 2009-09 wrestling season on Monday, Nov. 24, and Tuesday, Nov. 25 in the main lobby of Mountain Ridge High School from 6 to 7:30 each night.

Registration is open to students in grades 1-8 in the Mountain Ridge School district. A registration fee of $20 will be charged for each participant. Practice begins on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Rick Mazer at (301) 876-1071.

12th Turkey Day 5K Run Nov. 29

WESTERNPORT — The 12th annual Turkey Day 5K Run, sponsored by the Mountain Ridge cross country team, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 9 a.m., in Westernport.

Plaques and pumpkin pies will be awarded to the first three winners in 26 age divisions. Walkers are also welcome. Awards will be presented after the run at the Victory Post No. 155 American Legion on Route 36 in Westernport. Refreshments will be available. Race-day registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Legion. T-shirts will be available while they last.

Food/Cash donations being accepted at tonight’s playoff game

CUMBERLAND — There will be a can food and cash drive by the Western Maryland Food Bank at Greenway Avenue Stadium during the Allegany vs. Fort Hill Maryland playoff game this evening.

Collections will be accepted from 5-6:45 p.m. at all ticket gates.
