Cumberland Times-News

FROSTBURG — Daniel Warnick scored three goals in the boys game and Crystal Moreland had a pair in the girls game to lead their teams to victories in the eighth annual M&T Bank Senior All-Star Soccer Classic, played in bone-chilling conditions Sunday afternoon at Frostburg State University.

Boys

Northern’s Daniel Warnick scored three consecutive goals to lead the Green to a convincing win over the White.

Salisbury’s Tyler Sechler scored the first and the final goals of the match for the Green, which consisted of players from Northern, Allegany, Bishop Walsh, Keyser, Hyndman, Salisbury and Calvary Christian.

Sechler, unassisted, and Warnick, on an assist from Calvary’s Levi Ours, had the only first-half goals.

A four-goal second half began with back-to-back goals by Warnick on assists from Allegany’s Collin Sainz and Northern’s Zac Lipscomb.

Alco’s Andrea Maracci made it 5-0 with an unassisted goal, and Sechler’s final goal came off a feed from Salisbury teammate Matt Broadwater.

The White team was comprised of players from Mountain Ridge, Fort Hill, Southern, Hampshire, Frankfort, Pendleton County and Petersburg.

The Green led in shots on goal 14-8 and in corners, 7-4. Luke Tompkins, of Allegany, had seven saves in goal for the Green.

Game MVPs for the Green were Warnick (offense) and Tompkins (defense). The White MVPs were David Hobel (offense) and Chase Bonnette (defense) of Mountain Ridge.
