— Fort Hill plays Dunbar Saturday
BALTIMORE — The Fort Hill Sentinels will face the Dunbar Poets in the Maryland Class 1A State Championship game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at noon on Saturday.
Admission to the game is $8 for all adults and children seven years of age or older. The Maryland finals begin on Thursday with the Class 3A game at 7 p.m. The 4A championship game will be played Friday at 7:30, and the 2A finals will take place following the 1A game at 3:30 p.m.

Fort Hill Mothers meeting Tuesday
CUMBERLAND — The Fort Hill Mothers Club will meet Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. in room 108 of the high school.

MacFawn paces Alco contingent in NY
BRONX, N.Y. — Allegany High School’s Ian MacFawn had the best showing by a local prep athlete Saturday by placing 14th in the Footlocker Northeast Regional Cross Country Championship.
MacFawn, of LaVale, covered the 5,000-meter course in the sophomore boys’ race at Van Cortlandt Park in 17 minutes, 21.8 seconds. William Slattery of Garden City, N.Y., won in 16:44.7. Luke Smith, also of Allegany, placed 90th among 189 runners in 18:55.9.
Fellow Camper Darion DeHaven, of LaVale, placed 88th out of 101 runners in the freshman boys’ race in 22:00.1. In the senior boys’ race, Allegany’s Colby Smith was 139th out of 192 in 20:35.9 and teammate Aaron Trumbule, of LaVale, was 162nd in 21:26.1.
In the open race, Cumberland resident and Allegany volunteer assistant coach Dave Mertz placed third among 69 runners by finishing in 18:00.1. Carl Dambkowski, 24, of New York, N.Y., won in 15:57.2. Camper coach Tommy Chandler was 12th overall in 19:26.7 and masters runner Rob Smith, 44, was 25th in 20:35.1.

McGrady sidelined by sore left knee
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston guard Tracy McGrady missed the Rockets’ game Saturday night against San Antonio because of a sore left knee.
McGrady also sat out Wednesday night against Indiana, and will miss the Rockets’ game Sunday in Denver.
