DeGroat's 33 powers ACM's 88-73 win

CUMBERLAND - George DeGroat scored a game leading 33 points Monday evening in Allegany College of Maryland's 88-73 win over Maryland JUCO opponent the College of Southern Maryland.

DeGroat added 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double, and Tarelle Jackson finished with 13 points for the Trojans. Ryan Burts just missed a double-double of his own with 11 rebounds and nine points. Calvin Lee had eight rebounds, eight assists and four assists to go with his six points, and Ru White contributed nine points.

"We played some real defense tonight and showed some real intensity," commented Mike Baker, the Trojans head coach. "We were able to jump out to a big lead, but did have a couple of spots were we seemed to get content. We are learning to play all 40 minutes instead of just in spurts."

Vince Owens scored 17 points to lead Southern Maryland. Brandon Boog had 14 points, and Laron Man added 13.

Allegany (6-9, 5-3 JUCO) remains in the league when it plays CCBC-Dundalk at home on Wednesday.
