FSU rally falls short at Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. - Frostburg State sliced a double-figure, second-half deficit to one point on two occasions but couldn't get over the hump and fell to Penn State Altoona, 74-66, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game Wednesday night.
Frostburg State (3-11, 2-5) trailed 47-35 with 14:31 left but cut the margin to a single point twice, both times on buckets by freshman Martin Fernandez, over the next 10 minutes.
The Lions (7-6, 4-2) hit a layup and six free throws in the final 1:47 to boost the lead back into double figures, 74-64.
Brian Green led all players with 18 points for Frostburg. Jade Belt registered his fourth straight double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Former Northern High standout Blake Walker added 10 points in his third collegiate start.
Curtis Geiger had 17 points for Altoona.
Frostburg State hosts Hilbert on Saturday at 3 p.m.
