Garrett loses to Chesapeake, 78-69

MCHENRY - Andrew Lee scored 24 points, Antoine Reeves had 17 and Ty Newman 16 and a big second half carried Chesapeake past Garrett in a Maryland JUCO Conference game.

Chesapeake (18-3 overall, 10-3 JUCO) trailed 36-31 at halftime but put up 47 points in the second half.

Newman and Reeves combined for seven of Chesapeake's 11 three-point goals.

Glen Izevbigie scored 14 points, Shawn Greenfield had 13 and C.J. Glen 12 in leading Garrett (14-6, 8-4).

"We have to play hard the whole game,'' said Garrett coach Dennis Gibson. "We led at the half, and they got six offensive rebounds in the first three minutes of the second. Our defense was holding them but we weren't getting stops. They got their confidence and made a run on us.

"Offensively, we got a ton of open shots, we just didn't knock them down. We've either got to make those shots or go inside and get fouled and get to the line."

Garrett, which was 9-2 in its previous 11 games, hosts Montgomery-Rockville on Saturday at 4 o'clock.
