Allegany falls short against Cecil, 96-83

NORTH EAST - Allegany College of Maryland couldn't avoid foul trouble during a bid to upset No. 1 Cecil Community College that saw the Seahawks collect a 96-83 win over its Maryland JUCO rival.

Four Trojans players fouled out in the final few minutes as ACM looked to become the first team to beat Cecil this season. The Trojans committed 30 fouls to the Hawks 14, and Cecil made almost twice as many foul shots (27) as Allegany shot (15).

Rob Lowery scored a game-leading 30 points in the win, and was joined by Kevin Palmer with 22 points and Josh Whitehead with 14. Jabril Bailey scored 11 points.

Four Trojans scored in double figures, with three of them fouling out. George DeGroat scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds, both team highs. Tarelle Jackson had 14 points and Terrence Green added 12. Calvin Lee scored 16 points, and Ru White had a solid outing with nine rebounds, seven assists, five points and four steals.

Allegany falls to 9-14 overall and sits at 9-7 in the Maryland JUCO. The Trojans play their second to last regular season game when they visit Frederick on Saturday at 7 o'clock.
