Germantown holds off Garrett, 73-63

GERMANTOWN - Nick Sefcik scored 16 points and led four scorers in double figures to help Montgomery-Germantown to a 73-63 Maryland JUCO Conference win over Garrett Wednesday evening.

Robert Pettis added 13 points, Tariq Ugdah 12 and Tyrone Roach 11 for Germantown (18-7).

Terrance Taylor led Garrett (16-9, 10-7 JUCO) with 15 points. Dale Taylor had 13 and J.T. Lewis nine.

Germantown used a 7-0 spurt in the final minutes of the first half and enjoyed a 43-30 halftime lead.

Garrett got to within three midway through the second half and had a chance to do more after coming up with four straight defensive stops. But during that span the Lakers missed a layup and went 1-for-6 from the foul line on the offensive end, which stalled the comeback.

For Garrett, it was the fourth game in seven days - a string that included Hagerstown, Baltimore City, Cecil and Germantown. The Lakers play again Sunday at West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 o'clock.
