FSU defeats Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. - Six players scored in double figures and Frostburg State tied a season-high with 37 field goals as the Bobcats defeated Mt. Aloysius, 95-78, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (8-16, 7-10) shot 51 percent (21-of-41) in the first half and cruised to a game-high 19-point lead in the second for the victory.

Jade Belt led the way with 27 points and 13 rebounds while Brian Green scored 16 points and had eight assists and three steals. Brian Anderson had 14 points and four three-point goals and Dale DeBerry netted 13 points.

Jamal Bracken went 3-for-3 from the field and 5-for-5 from the foul line for 11 points, and Juan Wansley added 10 points and eight rebounds.

FSU led in rebounds (43-37) and offensive boards (19-11) and forced the Mounties (4-20, 1-16) into 21 turnovers.

Richard McNutt shot 11-for-15 from the field and had 29 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots for Mt. Aloysius. Tyrone Lowery scored 17 points and Jimmy Snyder added 13.

The Mounties led by as many as 10 (16-6) just over four minutes into the game, but the Bobcats scored 11 straight points, including three baskets from beyond the three-point line, to take their first lead, 17-16 at 14:24. FSU slowly pulled away and led 54-42 at the half.

In the second, the Mounties got as close as four points (61-57) with 14:18 to play. A seven-point surge put the Bobcats back in command at 68-57 just one minute later. The largest lead came at 93-74 with two minutes to go.

FSU hosts Lake Erie in its regular-season finale on Saturday at 3 o'clock.
