Anderson's career day leads FSU's 98-87 win

FROSTBURG - Brian Anderson scored a career-high 25 points and shot 6-for-8 from three-point range to guide Frostburg State past Lake Erie 96-87 in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday.

The Bobcats (9-16, 8-10) finished 8-2 at home including five-straight wins at Bobcat Arena. They shot 50 percent (9-of-18) from three-point range and never allowed Lake Erie (17-8, 13-5) to get closer than five points the entire second half.

On Senior Day, the three FSU seniors combined to score 45 points. Brian Green had 18 points and four assists, Dale DeBerry chipped in 16 points and Jade Belt turned in a double-double 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Anderson, who scored 13 of his points in the first half, finished 8-of-11 from the field despite leaving the game twice with injuries.

Derrick Thornton scored 20 points for Lake Erie and went 10-for-10 from the foul line. Darnell Campbell added 16 points while Antonio Kidd had 13 and Matt Moore 11. Lake Erie got 39 points from its bench and scored 44 points in the paint.

The Storm led through the first six minutes and by as many as seven at 17:41 but the Bobcats would rebound and take the lead for good at 13:35 (17-16). Anderson later hit his second three-pointer to give FSU its largest lead of the opening half (46-35) with 4:37 left.

Frostburg State led throughout the second half, with the largest lead coming just before the buzzer at 96-84.
