Frostburg men fall to Pitt-Greensburg, 83-76

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Frostburg State had four scorers in double figures but Pitt-Greensburg had six and knocked off the Bobcats in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener for both teams Wednesday evening.

Frostburg State (1-3) led for much of the first half, including 41-37 at the break. But Pitt-Greensburg (1-4) rallied early in the second half and held on for the victory.

Daniel Waajid was 6-for-9 from the field and had 16 points, 16 rebounds and four assists for Pitt-Greensburg. Dino Tessari was 5-for-5 from the floor, had four three-point goals and 15 points, and Torrey Sochacki added 14 points. Ed Montgomery and Jacquet Wells finished with 12 and Josh Kucenic had 11.

Freshman Brian Anderson, in his second collegiate start, led Frostburg State with 17 points. Brian Green added 15 points, four assists and three steals, Jade Belt points and eight rebounds, and Juan Wansley had 11 points.

Pitt-Greensburg shot 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the floor in the second half. For the game, UPG shot 51 percent from the field, and 55 percent (11-for-20) from three-point range.

Pitt-Greensburg made three straight baskets to open the second half, with two being three-pointers, to take a 45-41 lead. FSU got to within two points on two occasions but was never able to tie it or regain the lead.

Frostburg State plays again Saturday, at 4 o'clock, at Penn State Behrend.
