Potomac State beats Pitt-Titusville 81-80

KEYSER, W.Va. — Hosea Berkley scored the final two of his game-high 24 points with three seconds left to lift Potomac State over Pitt-Titusville in its Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference opener.

Potomac State trailed 78-77 with 30 seconds left when Nader Shehadeh’s steal and second bucket of the game gave PSC a 79-78 lead. Titusville’s Adam Caril got a layup off of a pick to make it 80-79 with 11 seconds left.

The Catamounts had the ball knocked out of bounds and inbounded the ball with four seconds left. Shehadeh hit Berkley on the inbounds pass and Berkley did the rest, making making the game-winning shot that lifted Potomac State’s record to 6-5.

Berkley and Donavin Vinson anchored the Catamounts with their play inside. Berkley had seven rebounds and three assists to go with his 24 points, and Vinson added 16 points.

Potomac State hit a total of nine three-point goals. Chad Wilson scored all 18 of his points from behind he arc, and also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Travis Williams finished with eight points, seven boards and five assists.

Titusville, which trailed 29-26 at halftime, was led by Caril’s 19 points. Mike Douglas scored 18, Tim Chapon 13 and Dan Johnson 10.

Potomac State will plays at Westmoreland in another conference game on Monday at 7 p.m.

Penn State Behrend 78

Frostburg State 63

ERIE, Pa. — Kevin Buczynski had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Penn State Behrend over Frostburg State in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game.

Adm Potter was 5-for-5 from the field and had three three-point goals for 17 points for Behrend (4-1, 1-1), which had four double-figure scorers. The Lions scored the game’s first 11 points and never trailed.

Jermaine Kapombe and Dale DeBerry led Frostburg State (1-4, 0-2) with 17 points.

The Bobcats will host La Roche in a conference game Wednesday evening.
