ACM lets one get away in Baltimore

Trojans turn over nine-point halftime lead in 56-54 setback

BALTIMORE - Allegany College of Maryland had 27 turnovers as it squandered a nine-point lead at halftime in a 56-54 loss to Baltimore City Community College that halted a Trojan winning streak at three games.

ACM got the season off to a 1-5 start, but had won three in a row to move to 4-5 before the loss to BCCC. Allegany now falls to 4-2 in the Maryland JUCO and will host Monroe (N.Y.) Friday in the Pepsi Christmas Classic at Bob Kirk Arena.

Head coach Mike Baker cited an overall lack of effort in the team losing the lead.

"It was a culmination of everything that happened all game," he said. "From a lack of intensity, to the turnovers, I just think Baltimore wanted to win this one a little more than we did."

Down two points with time dwindling in the second half, the Trojans were called for a technical foul after calling a timeout they did not have. Allegany was unable to get a shot off after getting the ball back.

Darrell Clark had a game-high 23 points, and Deshaun Antoine helped out with 17 in leading the Red Devils.

Allegany was led in scoring by Calvin Lee's 17 points. Lee also led the squad with 15 rebounds. Ru White grabbed eight rebounds to go with his 12 points, and George DeGroat scored eight points.
