Roy V. "Wee" Layman [Eckhart]
ECKHART - Roy Valentine "Wee" Layman, 91, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home in Eckhart.
Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Kempton, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna (Boring) Layman. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lena (Anthony) Layman; a baby son, Roy Ellsworth Layman; two sisters; and four brothers.
Mr. Layman was retired from the Western Maryland Railroad. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Long Stretch and he was a life member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.
Surviving are his wife, Lura (Lafferty) Thomas Layman; one son, Roy Franklin "Mansy" Layman and wife Linda, Huntington, W.Va.; two daughters, Rosella Ann Pauley and husband James, Wooster, Ohio, and Joanne Hall and husband Robert Jr., Butler, Pa.; eight grandchildren, John Layman, Laura Stickler, James Pauley, Michael Pauley, Kim Hammer, Robert Hall III, Jennifer Hall and William Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Riley Layman, Andrew Stickler, Bennett Stickler, Paul Stickler, Olivia Pauley, Trent Pauley and Conner Pauley; two brothers, William Layman, Freemont, Calif., and Sheridan Layman, Aurora, W.Va. Also surviving is Gary Thomas and wife Kathryn, Rawlings.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Bayard Cemetery with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
The grandsons will be the pallbearers.
Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
