Louis P. St. Marie Jr. [Frostburg]
FROSTBURG - Louis P. St. Marie Jr., 76, of Frostburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at WMHS Braddock Campus.
Louis was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Fall River, Mass. He was the son of the late Louis P. St. Marie Sr. and Blanche (Larrivee) St. Marie, Fall River, Mass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis St. Marie, of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Raymond St. Marie, of Manchester, N.H.; and a nephew, Timothy St. Marie, of Charleston, SC.
Louis and his wife Jeanne started Au Petit Paris Restaurant in Amarillo, Texas. At the sudden death of their infant son Dennis, the St. Marie's came to Maryland in 1959 to reestablish Au Petit Paris by invitation of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Jenkins of Frostburg.
Louis was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking and his love of cooking and eating fine cuisine. Some of Louis recipes were published in Maryland's Historic Restaurants and Their Recipes by Dawn O'Brien and Rebecca Schenck. Louis was a former President of the Maplehurst Country Club, member of the Frostburg Community Theater, helped coach basketball at St. Michael's School, and served as an usher at St. Michael Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, as an aviation electronics mate from 1951 to 1955 stationed in Amarillo, Texas.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Jeanne (Beaudoin) St. Marie; two sons, Louis St. Marie III and Johnny St. Marie, both of Frostburg; his loving daughter, Jeannine (St. Marie) McCutcheon and husband Ray, of Barton; one brother David St. Marie, of Fall River, Mass.; one sister Janet Herlihy, of Chester; one granddaughter, Andrea St. Marie-Custer; one grandson, Christopher St. Marie; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lea Custer; and Louis favorite dog, "Maggie".
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A. 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
Military honors will be accorded by members of Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
Active pallbearers are Herman Humbertson, Dale Murray, Vincent Dishong, Andy Malone, Joe DeLorenzo, and Bill Short. Honorary pallbearer is Albert Via.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to St. Michael's Catholic Church and School.
