The Allegany County Animal Shelter has a busy holiday season planned, including attending the Small Business Saturday vendor fair Nov. 25 at City Place in Frostburg.

Representatives will accept donations as part of the shelter’s holiday donation drive, and will have shelter merchandise available for sale. Residents can see adoptable dogs during the event.

The shelter’s pet taxi and dogs will take part in Frostburg’s Storybook Holiday Parade on Dec. 2 and representatives will be at City Place that day.

The shelter also will participate in an American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Subaru Share the Love adoption event at Thomas Subaru starting at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 2. Adoption fees are waived for the day and Thomas will provide free pet ID tags. The shelter has been chosen as Thomas’ Share the Love hometown charity.

Shelter pups, along with a person portraying Santa Claus, will be at KTK Auctions on Henderson Avenue in Cumberland on Dec. 3. 

A “stuff the bus” event will be held at Wal-Mart in LaVale Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. Officials hope to fill the pet taxi with items on a pet wish list. Shelter representatives also will be at PetSmart in LaVale with adoptable dogs and cats that day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A 50 percent off sale will be held at the Barkin’ Basement, the shelter’s thrift store on Baltimore Street, Black Friday, Nov. 24, and over the weekend. For more information, visit www.barkinbasementthriftshop.com.

The annual “Presents for Paws” celebration will be held at the animal shelter on Furnace Street and PetSmart in LaVale on Dec. 16.
