OAKLAND — A 19-year-old Oakland man was injured early Friday after his vehicle traveled out of control when he fell asleep at the wheel, according to the the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.

Devon Yoder was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital following the 5:30 a.m. crash that occurred on Maryland Highway near Pysell Crosscut Road.

Yoder was taken to the hospital by Southern Rescue Squad. No information was available concerning his injuries or medical condition.

Police said Yoder was operating a 1994 Ford truck eastbound on Maryland Highway when he fell asleep, causing the truck to travel out of control, strike a fence and then overturn.

Deer Park Volunteer Fire Company also responded.
