— CUMBERLAND — Thomas “Possum” Issac Hixenbaugh, 54, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Devlin Manor Health Care Center.

Born March 15, 1959, in Cumberland, he was the son of Margaret Jean (Robison) Hixenbaugh, Cumberland, and the late George Francis Hixenbaugh Jr.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary L. Hixenbaugh.

Thomas was a graduate of Allegany High School and Allegany College of Maryland and also attended Frostburg State University. He was previously employed at JcPenney. He was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and also the Democrat Club. He loved playing tennis and was an avid book reader.

Besides his mother he is survived by his sisters, Georgeann Savicz, Durham, N.C., Patricia Fetters, Jackson, Mich., and Debra Loar, Cumberland; his brothers,  Bill Hixenbaugh and wife Vicky, Cumberland, Glenn A. Hixenbaugh, Cumberland, and George F. Hixenbaugh III and wife Melissa, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 13 nieces and nephews; 27 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, cousins, and friends; and two special friends, Bob Paxton and Jimmy Sell, both of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at 1 p.m.
