Thomas Ross Porter [Eckhart]

— ECKHART — Thomas Ross Porter, 56, of Eckhart died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born in Frostburg on June 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Ross and Evelyn (Willison) Porter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Harden; and a nephew, William Layton.

He was employed by Frostburg State University for 30 years in the food service. He was a member of the Frostburg Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by a sister, Joan Cutter and husband Allen, Shaft; nieces, Carolyn Brown, Eckhart, Evelyn Johnson and husband Ronald, Eckhart, Christine Murray, Eckhart and Michelle Unger and husband, Mitch, N.C; girlfriend, Darlene Miller; great nieces and nephews, Aaron Brown, Chrystal Hawn, Trent Hawn, Mark Hawkins, Alexis Murray, Donna Layton, Leslie Unger and Jackie Unger. Also longtime friends, Elizabeth Kunkle and Leslie and Jerry Lewis.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Fisher officiating.

Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Willison, Gerald Lewis Sr., Richard Muir, Louis Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Allen Cutter, and Jamie Johnson.
