— CUMBERLAND — Eva Mae (Clites) Voorhees, 85, of Cumberland, passed away at her home on Sunday, April 14, 2013, to join with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on May 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William and Ida Pearl (Logsdon) Clites. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Voorhees, on Aug. 12, 2003; two daughters, Jean Carolyn (Yost) Crites and Joan Darlene (Yost) Kesner; two infant grandsons, Aaron Edward Schaidt and Joel Christopher Schaidt; an infant great-granddaughter, Jenna Grace Bone and three brothers, William Clites, Clarence Clites and Earl Clites.

Eva was the last remaining family member of her generation.

Eva was a homemaker. Her happiest moments were the times she spent with her family. She loved reading the Bible (reading ten chapters every day) and attending church. She was a Charter member of the Lake Gordon Assembly of God Church (originally Bald Hill Assembly of God Church). She was also a financial supporter of disabled veterans.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane Arlene Yost Schaidt and husband the Rev. H.E., of Bealeton, Va. and Nancy Lee Yost Kidwell and husband John William, of Cumberland; two sons, the Rev. Bernard A. Yost and wife Audrey, of Cumberland and James Scott Voorhees and Michele, of Cumberland; eleven grandchildren, Jeanne Smith and husband Ronnie, of Cumberland, Tonya Cottrill and husband Travis, of West Virginia, Crystal Thomas and Rick Alexander, of Cumberland, Roy Crites, of Somerset, Pa., Brian Kesner and wife Shannon, of Cumberland, Amy Yost, of Cumberland, Rebecca Rust and husband Shannon, of Cumberland, Jennifer Bone and husband John, of Cumberland, Nathan Cook, of Cumberland, Joshua Schaidt and wife Sarah, of Virginia and Ryan Voorhees, of Cumberland; nineteen great-grandchildren, Barbara Jean, Courtney, Jeremy, Andrew, BreeAnna, Reuben, Seth, Ricky, Taylor, Garrett, Rachel, Sarah, Brooke, Jacob Bone, Brennan, Shelby, Matthias, Jacob Crites and Cassandra and five great-great-grandchildren Nicholas, Faith, Mason, Gavin and Isabella.

A special thanks and recognition to Nancy (Yost) Kidwell for her loving care and support over the years.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA, 108 Virginia Ave. ( on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 4 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in Lake Gordon Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Shannon Rust officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Brian Kesner, Roy Crites, Nathan Cook, Seth Thomas, Andrew Harbaugh and Jeremy Harbaugh.
