NOLA F. MCCABE [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Nola F. McCabe, 88, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2013, at her residence.

Born Nov. 1, 1924, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Esrom R. and Mary Elizabeth (Ambrose) Hiett. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roy James McCabe, on Aug. 6, 2001; one brother, Elmus Hiett and three sisters, Reta McCabe, Ima Bowers and Thelma Brown.

A founding charter member of Winifred Road Church of Christ, Nola served many roles over the years at the church. She was probably best known as “Momma Nola” at Tri-State Christian Service Camp. Murray Agency, in Keyser, working along with her late husband Roy who owned the agency. After retirement, she was often seen behind a sewing machine making costumes for numerous community theatre productions and church pageants.

She is survived by her daughter, Roxie Bittner and husband Bob, of Apex, N.C.; two sons, Michael McCabe and wife Earlene, of Inwood, W.Va. and Chris McCabe and wife Karen, of Cumberland. She was proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, Rachael Buchanan and husband Pat, Erin Martin and husband Craig, Sarah Jenkins and husband Matt, Michael McCabe II, Connor McCabe, Trevor McCabe and Brendon McCabe, also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Avery Martin, Connolly Martin, Pryce Buchanan, Paxton Buchanan and Piper Buchanan. Nola was happily awaiting the arrival of two more great-grandchildren. Additionally she is survived by a dear sister-in-law, Doreen Hiett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 2 to 7 p.m.
