HYNDMAN, Pa. — Miriam F. Kipp, 97, of Hyndman Road, Hyndman, died on Sunday, April 21, 1913 at her home.
Born on Oct. 11, 1915, at West Leisenring, Fayette County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Ella (Dale) Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wade M. Kipp; and her daughter, Carol Kipp Clulee of LaVale. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Elder; and her brother, Robert D. Fisher.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Kipp Lefkowitz; Carol’s husband, Nicholas Clulee; and five grandchildren, Crystal Clulee, Nicole Clulee Cutter and her husband Ben, Jen Lefkowitz Smith and her husband Thom, Andrew Lefkowitz and his wife Robby, and Valerie Lefkowitz Fuller and her husband Charles. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Robbie and Caroline Cutter and Alex Lefkowitz.
Miriam graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1937 with degrees in Science and Math. She taught General Science and Biology at North Union High School, Uniontown, Pa. for five years. In 1940, she married Wade Kipp, and in 1942, she and Wade were located in Norman, Okla., where Wade was stationed in the Naval Reserves. After the war, the couple moved to Hyndman in 1947 where Miriam taught Health, Math and Science at Hyndman High School, retiring in June 1975.
Miriam was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Hyndman. She held membership in PSEA (Pennsylvania State Education Association), PASR (Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees), Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Intl., and was very active in establishing the Hyndman-Londonderry Public Library in Hyndman.
There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at the First United Church of Christ, Market Street, Hyndman, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. Following the service, friends may visit with the family at the church social hall from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
