FROSTBURG — Joseph L. Arnone Sr., 88, of Frostburg, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 27, 1924, in Frostburg, to Salvatore Arnone and Jennie (Arnone) Arnone, he is preceded in death by parents; a son, Sammy Arnone; four brothers, Anthony, Michael, Victor, and John and two sisters, Emma Fiumara and Susan Greco.
Mr. Arnone is a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church; retired from A.B.L. as a Quality Control Inspector.
He was a 60 year life member of Eagles Arie 1273; Old Rail Post 6025 VFW, Mount Savage and a Marine veteran, having served in Gilbert Islands.
Surviving are his wife, Emily M. (Hout) Arnone; two sons, Joey Arnone and wife Diana, of Cumberland and Charlie Arnone and wife Maureen, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; grandchildren, Samuel and Matthew Arnone, of Cumberland, Chel-sea Arnone, of Washington D.C., Sydni Arnone, of Lancaster, Pa., Francis Arnone and wife Lorraine, of LaVale and Thomas Arnone, of West Virginia; three sisters, Carmela Stanton, of Frostburg, Mary Theresa Barranco, of Whiteford and JoAnn Vera, of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at a time to be determined.
Interment will be private (family only) in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
Military honors will be accorded by Old Rail Post 6025 VFW Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Allegany County Special Olympics, 218 Shaw Street, Frostburg, MD 21532.
