CRESAPTOWN — David Taylor Walters, 77, of Cresaptown, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born April 13, 1936, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Howard and Leona (Taylor) Walters. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, John Walters.
David was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1954 and an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was the night foreman of the composing room at the Cumberland Times-News. He was an avid Penn State football and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was Protestant by faith.
He was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles, a member of the Wednesday afternoon bowling league, an avid collector of pre-World War II radios, and he enjoyed buying and selling antiques. He loved his grandchildren very much.
David is survived by his wife, Norma Jean (Blontz) Walters; a daughter, Robin McKee and husband Wayne Jr., of Big Run, Pa.; a brother, Howard “Pete” Walters, of Altoona, Pa.; two grandchildren, Patrick McKee and fiancee Lindsey And-rekovich, of Pittsburgh and Lauren Taylor McKee, a student at Slippery Rock University. He will be sadly missed by his kitty cats, Mew-Mew, Tom and Andy.
At Mr. Walters’ request, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral service.
