CLARENCE E. WILES JR. [Hagerstown]

HAGERSTOWN — Clarence Elmer Wiles Jr., known by many as Sam or Junie, of Hagerstown, formerly of Frederick, 55, went home to be with the lord on Dec. 10, 2013 after a two year hard fought and courageous fight against cancer.

Sam was born in Frederick, on May 21, 1958.

He graduated from Thomas Johnson High. Sam was employed by MC Dean Inc., Chantilly, Va.

He loved taking walks with his dogs, Boomer and Kirby, doing home-improvements, laughing, being with his family, and having fun with friends.

Sam was a beloved son and brother, a thoughtful and warmhearted husband, a loving father, an affectionate grandfather, and an amazingly-genuine friend to many, but above all he was a servant to his Lord and savior. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Rhonda Wiles; his parents, Dorothy and John Witmer of Frederick; a sister, Betty Neilson, of Mount Airey; a brother, Daniel Wiles Sr., of Fairfield, Pa; a son, Sammy Wiles, of Middletown; a step-daughter, Carla Steele of Laurel Hill, Fla.; a step-son, Brian Miller of Fayetteville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Chloe Wiles; ten step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Sam is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Elmer Wiles Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Rickard officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013.

Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation in Sam’s memory to the National Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Washington County, Inc.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.douglasfiery.com.

The family of Clarence Wiles Jr. wishes to thank everyone that has given support during his battle, but especially the compassionate staff at Washington County Hospice.
