HOPE D. BULK [Millstone Township, N.J.]

MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Hope Doxsee Bulk, 89, of Millstone Township, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. For the last two years, she had lived with her daughter, Patricia Adams, husband Fred, and granddaughter Hope in Keyser, W.Va..

Born  Jan. 29, 1924 in Islip, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Marion (Hanford) Doxsee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Bulk.

She resided most of her life in Freehold, N.J., living her last years near her son, Daniel Bulk and daughter-in-law, Patricia’s home in Keyser.

She truly lived her last years like every day was a gift. She was full of life and had more fun than some people might in a lifetime.

Her normal day in Fort Ashby consisted of going to get groceries at the Family Dollar, getting a twist ice cream cone at Evan’s Dairy Dip, and fixing beautiful floral arrangements at her daughter, Patricia Adams’ garden center. One might possibly catch her at the VFW playing the slot machines.

She enjoyed her last days putting puzzles together, watching game shows, eating her nightly ice cream, enjoying her son-in-law Fred Adams’ gourmet dinners, and of course, holidays with her family.

During her life-time Hope had many interests. She loved watching race horses, especially “Blue Eagle”,  the winning horse owned by her and her husband. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden, tending to her flowers; being out in nature and around animals; going to the beach and sun tanning; exploring antique shops, and volunteering at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church thrift shop for 20 years.

Most important to her was her family. She was a great wife, mother, and NaNa. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bulk’s family includes her children, David, Robin, Jac, Peter, Donald, Daniel and Patricia; her sister, Jean Bahret; and grandchildren. She also loved her dogs, Pig and Chico, as if they were her children.

Because of her love for animals, expressions of sympathy make take the form of contributions to the Mineral County Humane Society, HC 84, Box 12, Keyser, WV 26726.

The Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, W.Va. is in charge of the private arrangements. Condolences to the family may be posted after Mrs. Bulk’s obituary at www. upchurchfh.com.
