MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — Norma Lemoyne (Cosner) Hanlin, age 85, of Mount Storm, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born Jan. 12, 1928 at Bismarck, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Aaron B. Cosner and Flossie M. (Moore) Cosner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Hanlin, on Dec. 17, 2007 following 60 years of marriage; and two brothers, Harley G. Cosner and A. Blaine Cosner.
She was an active member of the Mount Storm Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, member of the Presbyterian Women’s Group, and served as the pianist until her illness in May 2013. She also was a former member of the Allegheny Homemakers and a supporter of the Mount Storm Lions Club for many years. She and her husband had previously owned and operated several local businesses, the most recent being Country Store Antiques. Norma enjoyed reading, painting and puzzles, but her greatest love was her family, friends and church family.
Surviving are her daughter, Dixie L. Collette and husband James, of Mount Storm; her son, Jerry W. Hanlin and wife Teresa of Mount Storm; four grandchildren, Scott Collette of Mount Storm, Kelly Plantz and husband Howard of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., April Fels and husband Randy of Frankford, Del., and Wayde Hanlin and wife Brittany of Mount Storm; and two step-grandchildren, Keli Minnick and Chad Minnick of Mount Storm. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kaitlyn and Allison Collette, Madison Plantz, Ethan, Trustin and Aspen Fels and Skylar Hanlin. Also surviving are two brothers, Wardney Cosner and wife Donna of Mount Storm and Ronald L. Cosner of Elk Garden, W.Va. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday 1 p.m. at the Mount Storm Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joan Wilson and the Rev. Randy Cosner officiating. Friends will be received by the family at the church from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow the Mount Storm Cemetery.
