— SWANTON — Charity Elizabeth Janssen, 89, of Swanton, died on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland.  

Born on Aug. 1, 1924 in Sunnyside, Wash., she was the daughter of the late Frank G. and Clara G. (Gash) Coleman.

She had been an Occupational Therapist and was an active member of the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival, Our Town Theater and the Deep Creek Yacht Club.  

She is survived by her husband, Jan Walter Janssen; one son, Guy Hinebaugh and wife Hazel of Oakland; two daughters, Elizabeth Forrester and husband John of Swanton, and Leslie Hinebaugh and Pete McIver of Equador; two step-daughters, Kaaren Janssen of Connecticut and Nikolina Janssen of California; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Charity was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m.  

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating.

Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
