CUMBERLAND — Joseph “Joey” Robert Lee Smith II, 45, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, at his home.
Born July 21, 1967, in Cumberland, Joey was the son of Joseph Robert Lee Smith and wife Carol, of Centerville, Pa. and Maxine Yvonne (Ault) Smith, of Cumberland.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1985, Joey attended Frostburg State University. He was employed as a plumbing and heating contractor with Smith Plumbing and Heating and at Auto Zone in Cumberland. Joey attended the Central Assembly of God Church. He loved drag racing and working on hot rods and cars. One of Joey’s biggest passions in life was his great love of animals.
Besides his parents, Joey is survived by his children, Tanner and Garrett Smith, both at home and his wife, Lisa Lancaster-Smith, of Cumberland. He also leaves behind his uncles, Carl Wright and family, James Wright and family, all of Noblesville, Ind. and Ernest Keller and family, of Short Gap, W.Va.; his aunt, Jeannie Often and family, of Mount Savage; his loving animal companions, Reggee, Lizzie, Sootee, Buddy Bud and Punkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, March 22, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Donald Marple officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
