— CUMBERLAND — Kathryn England, 96, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Golden Living Center.

Born on Aug. 17, 1916, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Mary E. (Baker) Sibley. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. England; a daughter, Margaret L. “Peggy” Snyder and three brothers, Kenneth C. Sibley, her twin, Charles E. Sibley and Paul H. Sibley.

Kathryn had been employed at Crabtree Grocery in Cumberland and was employed in the cafeteria of Pennsylvania Avenue School. After she retired from the school system, she was employed as a teacher’s aide in the South Cumberland Parish Nursery Program. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. England is survived by a daughter, Robin Hall and husband David, of Cumberland; two granddaughters, Kathy M. Brinkman and husband Jeff, of Short Gap and Tammy D’Atri and husband Brian, of Cumberland and a grandson, J. Dewey Hall and Charlene Vassollo, of Cumberland. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Plummer and Henry Plummer, of Cumberland; two great-great-grandchildren, Bobby and Adain White; a sister, Mildred V. England, of Cumberland; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes, she will be cremated.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave. ( on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m.

A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Fred Iser officiating.

Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Sunshine Fund at the Golden Living Center, 512 Winifred Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living Center for the kind and capable care they gave to Kathryn, making her last years on Earth enjoyable.
