KEYSER, W.Va. — Ruthlean “Ruth” Temple, 92, of Grand Avenue, Keyser, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at her residence.

Born on Aug. 3, 1921 at Onego, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie (Phares) Vance. She also was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lee Temple on July 12, 2002; a daughter, Virginia L. “Jennie” Temple; and two sisters, Geraldine Mongold and Virginia Adamson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Temple was a 1939 graduate of Circleville High School and attended Fairmont Business College. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser; the last surviving charter member of Franklin Chapter 138, Order of the Eastern Star in Franklin, W.Va. and was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Alkire Chapter 10, Order of the Eastern Star, Keyser. She also was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine in Wheeling, W.Va.

Surviving are her daughter, RoseAnn Hanna-Maine and husband Michael C. Maine of Keyser; a cousin who she was reared with and considered him as a brother, John Phares and wife Shirley of Cinnaminson, N.J.; grandchildren, JoAnn Hanna and husband Lamar Keene of Woodstock, Ga., Joseph Lee Hanna and wife Cindy Mullens of Grafton, W.Va., Ingrid Brash and husband Doug of Hermitage, Pa., Megan Sweger and husband Ben of Newville, Pa. and Dr. Michael C. Maine Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Houston Hall, Virginia Kathryn Hanna, Sarah Ellen Hanna, Logan Keene, Ryan and Benjamin Brash and Christian, Holden, Sebastian and Cecelia Sweger. Also surviving is a very special friend and caregiver, Darlene Meek, along with numerous special nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James A. McCune officiating. Friends may also call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine, W.Va.
