Robert “Bob” Henry Schellhaus [Cumberland]

— CUMBERLAND — Robert “Bob” Henry Schellhaus, 78, of Cumberland, passed away at home on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Oct. 16, 1931, in Cumberland, Mr. Schellhaus was the son of the late Robert Francis and Alice (Mullaney) Schellhaus.  

Bob was a graduate of LaSalle High School, class of 1949. He attended Potomac State College and graduated from Shepherd College, class of 1959, Shepherdstown, W.Va. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War and served in Korea and Japan with the US Coast Guard, MP Unit. He worked for Sells Inc., WV Pulp and Paper Mill and retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company Corporate Center with 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors on his farm tractor. Bob was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of the F.O.P. Lodge 90.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Karlowa Schellhaus; three sons, Robert Joseph and wife Mindy, of Morgantown, W.Va., Steven Anthony and wife Debbie, of Cumberland, and John Francis and wife Ella, of Blackstone, Va.; five grandsons, Christopher, Justin, Brian, Nathan, and Jacob; two granddaughters, Jessica and Heather; one stepgranddaughter, Janine Castle; one sister, Ann (Schellhaus) Matlick and husband Jerry, of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Monsignor Jim Hannon officiating.

Interment will be in Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Mount Savage.

The family requests that memorials can be made to Hospice Nursing Education, c/o: Linda Green, Home Hospice Care, 1050 West Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, MD 21502.
