— CUMBERLAND — Mary Edna Twigg, 88, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Dawn View Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Cumberland, Mrs. Twigg was the daughter of the late George Weber and Effie (Frost) Weber. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Twigg; a son, Jeffery Twigg, 1987; a brother, “Bud” Weber; a sister, Ruth McGowan; and a close friend, Robert Long.

A homemaker, Mary also worked as a nanny for a few different families in the area. She was a member of Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church and the Women’s Altar Society at Saint Luke’s.

As a Christian in heart, she helped the less fortunate by donating her time and money to various humanitarian projects both locally and around the world, especially needy children. Her last selfless wish was to have her body donated, so it might help others to live.

Mary is survived by her sons, Michael “Mike” Twigg, Springfield, W.Va. and Edward “Junior” Twigg, Asheville, N.C.; her daughter, Sue Mellott and husband, Gary, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Heavenor, Cumberland; her former husband and friend, Edward Twigg, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a daughter-in-law, Krsna Komoni (aka: Kay) Twigg, Ft. Ashby, W.Va.

Services will be held at a later date.
