— MCHENRY — Cecil Clair Edwards, 90, of McHenry, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.

Born Jan. 28, 1923 at Grantsville, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Lula (Simpson) Edwards. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a son, Robert C. Edwards.

Mr. Edwards worked for the Department of Natural Resources for the State of Maryland in Fisheries Administration and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He and his wife previously owned Edwards’ Pic-n-Pay Market on River Avenue in South Cumberland. Mr. Edwards was a member of American Legion Post 208, Accident, Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Men’s Club, Maryland Classified Employees and was a lifetime member of Good Sam Camping Club.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Wilma Grace (Fratz), whom he married on June 14, 1942; one daughter, Carol S. Williams and husband, Tom, Tampa, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Judy Edwards, Springfield, Va.; one sister, Rita Hiller, Catonsville; four grandchildren, Philip Schlossnagle and wife, Cashawna, Erin Hintz and husband, Christopher, Beth Priest and husband, Colin and Allison Edwards; five great-grandchildren, Jadon Hintz, Garrett, Grant and Landon Schlossnagle and Stella Claire Priest.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Friday, Aug.  23, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at noon with the Rev. Robert Riebau officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by Accident Post 208 and Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice of Garrett County.
