— WINCHESTER, Va. — Norman “Duke” Duane Messman II, 55, of Winchester, Va., formerly of Cumberland, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Born Oct. 1, 1957, in Cumberland, Mr. Messman was the son of the late Norman Duane Messman Sr. and Betty Joan (Smith) Messman.  

Duke was a former driver for Skyline Trucking. He enjoyed riding his Harley, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and his dog “Bear.”

Duke is survived by his sisters, Cheryl Hutzell and husband John, of Hyndman, Pa. and Lisa Ogden and husband Lynn, of Cumberland; his nieces and nephews, Johnnie Hutzell, Chip Hutzell and wife Stacy, Tasha Payne and husband Jeremy and Josh Ogden and his fiancee Grace McKenzie; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
