Cumberland Times-News

— GRANTSVILLE — On Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, the Lord gained another angel as Rebecca “Grace” (Yoder) Resh, 82, of Grantsville, joined him in heaven. Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Norfolk, Va., she was the daughter of the late Sol and Anna (Troyer) Yoder.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth David Resh; four brothers, Alvie, Dan, Jerry and Fred Yoder and three sisters, Ida Kramer, Fran Yoder and Mary Miller.

She is survived by her three daughters, Rosetta “Rosie” Resh and Gary Guard, and Anna Grace “Ann” Colmer and husband, Joe, all of Grantsville, Annetta Lepley and husband, Weldon, Meyersdale, Pa.; two grandchildren, Crystal DeBerry and husband, Jamie, Oakland, Joe Colmer, Jr. and wife, Kristina, Frostburg; two great-grandchildren, Dustin DeBerry and Paige Colmer; two sisters, Mabel Beiler, Salisbury, Pa, Gertie Yoder and husband, Vernon, Warren, Ohio; one brother, Joe Yoder, Harrisonburg, Va. There were also several other special people who were an important part of her life, including the Suarez family, Josh Resh, Courtney Resh Mitchell, Brooke Colmer and many nieces and nephews.

Grace was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, but also attended many other churches in her 82 years. She was a member of the Garrett County Horsemen’s Association. She was a farmer’s wife, former cook at Grantsville Elementary School, homemaker, baby sitter and personal care provider. She was a loving woman who touched the lives of everyone she knew. She always had a smile and a kind word and knew no strangers. Her hard work was an inspiration to many who knew her. She opened her home to children from New York City, who participated in the Fresh Air Program for many years, and still remained in close contact with them. She was loved by her family and extended family and will be missed very much. But, as the song says, “You’ll be in our hearts from this day on, now and forever more.”

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Golden Living Center, Meyersdale, for all the love that was shown to Grace.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. with her nephew, Pastor Philip Yoder officiating.

Interment will be in Grants-ville Cemetery.
