— CUMBERLAND — Mary Ann Vanderhout, 71, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 1, 1942, in Cumberland, Mr. Vanderhout was the daughter of the late Ralph W. Athey and Mary (Martz) Athey. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bob Athey and a grandson, Joshua Koontz.

Mary Ann was cooperator of Vandy’s Auto. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Francis Dale “Vandy” Vanderhout; her children, David Brown and wife, Dani, Damascus, April Brown, Havelock, N.C., Franny Koontz and husband, Lane, Bedford, Pa.; and her stepsons, Jeffrey Vanderhout, and Bruce Vanderhout, both of Cumberland. She also leaves behind her brother Donald Athey and wife, Cheré; her sisters, Joyce Boyd and husband, Greg, Sue Rounds and husband, Ken, and Jane Bearinger and husband, Donnie; as well as 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, ( on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
