TERRA ALTA, W.Va. — Paul Samuel Gnegy, 96, of Aurora Pike, Terra Alta, died Jan. 2, 2013 at St. Francis Downtown, Greenville, S.C.
He was born Dec. 3, 1916 in Red House, a son of the late Jesse Earl and Bertha Lawrence Beeghley Gnegy. Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Leona Henline Gnegy; his second wife, Erma Dumire Gnegy; one son, Everett Gnegy; one daughter, Thelma Farrar; one brother, Earl Gnegy; one step-brother, Dale Chresse; three sisters, Florence Wotring, Ruby Rembold, Grace White; two grandchildren, James David Whitcomb and Suzann Gnegy Grey.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Irma (Eugene) Whitcomb, Greenville, Kathyrn Beckley, Plainville, Kan.; one brother, Jesse Gnegy Jr., Gorman; one son-in-law, Ralph Farrar, Brownville Junction, Maine; five grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild.
Mr. Gnegy worked for the gas company in Oakland, until they relocated and he then moved to Kansas and worked in the oil fields until he retired and moved back to the Aurora area. He was baptized in the Old Mill Race at Brookside. He attended the Brethren Churches of Brookside and Maple Spring. Paul enjoyed working in his wood shop.
Friends will be received on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren in Eglon, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Meeks officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eglon Cemetery.
