DONALD “MEECHIE” L. BARNETT [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Donald “Meechie” L. Barnett, 71, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born April 16, 1941, in Baltimore, Mr. Barnett was the son of the late Junior O’Neal and Mary (Barnett) O’Neal. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Allen Barnett; a daughter, Annette Wallace; a grandson, Gary Wallace Jr. and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Meechie was previously employed in construction. He was a member of the Universal Social Club, Baltimore and enjoyed playing softball.

Meechie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Barnett; his sons, Greg Wallace, Harry Crawford and Donald Barnett, all of Baltimore, Walter Blowe Jr. and wife LaShawn, of Houston, Texas, Douglas Blowe and fiancee Anna Huynh, of Hagerstown and Todd Blowe Sr., of Cumberland; his daughter, Carolyn Wallace, of Baltimore and Elizabeth Fisher and husband Carl, of Cumberland; a special aunt, Audrey Barnett, of Baltimore; as well as 30 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grand-children; as well as numerous uncles; aunts; nieces; nephews; cousins and close friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Mr. and Mrs. Elder Darren Mency from Hagerstown officiating.

Interment will be in Baltimore.
