CUMBERLAND — Bernard “Jack” H. Martin, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 13, 1930, in Cumberland, Mr. Martin was the son of the late Charles William Martin and Genevieve Eleanor (Kesler) Martin. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Martin; and two sisters, Margaret Smith and Kay Panaccione.
Jack was previously employed at City Furniture, Brown’s Transfer, also Bachman’s Transfer, and most recently until the age of 79, he worked for Auto Parts Warehouse. He was a member of the Church of Saint Patrick. Jack was a diehard Maryland Terrapins Basketball fan, Baltimore Ravens fan, and a Baltimore Orioles fan. He was an outstanding outfielder in the Rocking Chair Softball League.
Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannette Martin; and his sons, Bernard “Jack” E. Martin and wife, Joan, Cumberland, and Michael T. Martin and friend, Carol Hoffman, Flintstone. He is also survived by his brothers, William Martin, Cumberland, and Denny Martin, Cumberland.; his grandson, Todd Martin, Blacksburg, Va.; as well as numerous nieces and nep-hews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. with Father Steve Fernandes officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
